The doctors

Two clinicians,
two lifetimes of training.

Ursula Schmidt and Beth Stockwell have practiced under the same roof for years. They share patients, trade notes, and respect each other's discipline enough to know when the other tradition is the right answer.

Ursula Schmidt is a Licensed Acupuncturist and Herbalist as well as a nationally certified Diplomate of Acupuncture. She received her Master's degree in Chinese Medicine from the Santa Barbara College of Oriental Medicine in California, where her training included acupuncture, Chinese herbology, and nutrition.

That degree sat on top of an earlier Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine — and the medical-science training that came with it. She also completed certification in Acupuncture and Orthopedics, and the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association training to become a NADA acupuncture detoxification specialist.

Always in search of knowledge that would help her patients, Ursula continued her studies in modalities that complemented Oriental medicine. She became a NAET specialist to address allergies. She completed a two-year Clinical Integration Course in 5-Element style acupuncture to better understand and treat the psycho-emotional side of physical conditions. She is a Reiki Master, and trained in Bach flower remedies.

She always felt compelled to merge East and West, science and technology, with philosophy and spirituality. With her medical background and continuous study, she bridges the gap and brings forward valuable traditions often lost in modern medicine.

Patients describe her care as deeply attentive — the kind that comes from a clinician who listens long enough to actually hear what's happening, and who treats the person, not the symptom.

Dr. Beth Stockwell

ND · Bastyr University, 2008
  • ND, Bastyr University
  • Whole-person primary care
  • Digestive medicine
  • Women's health
  • Craniosacral therapy
  • Visceral manipulation
  • Type-II diabetes care
  • Lyme — adjunctive care
  • Chronic inflammation

Dr. Beth Stockwell is a graduate of Bastyr University in Kenmore, Washington — one of four accredited naturopathic colleges in the country. Her training combined medical science and diagnostic skills with the principles of natural healing: identify the root cause, support the body's own ability to heal, and use the least-invasive intervention that will work.

She practices whole-person primary care drawing on nutrition, botanicals, homeopathy, craniosacral therapy, visceral manipulation, and selective pharmacologic prescribing. Her clinical strengths include digestive disorders, food allergies and therapeutic diets, sleep disorders linked to stress, type-II diabetes care, women's health, cardiovascular support, adjunctive care for Lyme, and chronic inflammatory conditions.

Coastal Wellness Health is not the right place for major neurological or cardiovascular events, cancer, surgery, or emergency medicine — those patients are referred to specialists, sometimes with adjunctive naturopathic care alongside.

The main goal is to help patients take steps toward better living, and teach them to take charge of their health to further improve their quality of life.
