Why acupuncture?
Acupuncture is medicine with a 3,000-year tradition — and one of the fastest-growing forms of care in the United States, used by more than three million people, the U.S. military included. Because it works by activating the body's own healing response, it has no side effects.
The needles are sterile and single-use. The average is about the diameter of a cat's whisker; most patients never feel the insertion. A treatment is a quiet, often deeply relaxing experience.
What's actually happening: research shows that during acupuncture, the brain releases endorphins — the body's natural painkillers — and the treatment has measurable anti-inflammatory and immunomodulating effects. Both the National Institutes of Health and the World Health Organization recognize acupuncture as a valid treatment for a wide range of conditions.
The needles act like conductors. Placed precisely, they tune the body — toward health, away from imbalance.
What we offer
Most visits combine more than one of these. Dr. Schmidt chooses the modalities that fit the person on the table — not the protocol.
Acupuncture
Fine, sterile, single-use needles placed at points selected for the individual presentation.
Herbal medicine
Oral and topical Chinese herbal formulas, customized — and supplements when indicated.
Moxibustion
Heat therapy using mugwort, applied near specific points to warm and circulate qi.
Cupping
Suction cups on the skin to relieve inflammation, soreness, and tight fascia.
Manual therapies
Tuina (Chinese bodywork) and guasha (gentle scraping) for musculoskeletal complaints.
Magnets, no needles
For needle-averse patients and pediatrics — magnets and laser instead of needling.
NAET allergy work
A series of treatments to desensitize the body to specific allergens.
Pediatrics
Non-needle techniques tailored to children — gentle and brief.
Facial rejuvenation
Constitutional acupuncture protocols that stimulate collagen and reduce fine lines.
